The Path of Morgana

A two day guided pilgrimage around Bosacastle and Tintagel, exploring Morgan ‘le Fay’ through her echoes and memories in the landscape and waters of North Cornwall.

May 9/10 2026 + June 20/21 2026

Ticket £195 pp (9 pilgrim tickets available only)

From Morgan le Fay’s origins as a Celtic Sea Goddess, and her literary transformation into the arch-enemy of Arthur and Merlin, we’ll follow Morgan’s stories in the timeless landscape of North Cornwall, connecting with flowing waterfalls, caves, holy wells and hidden beaches. The path includes St Nectan’s Glen, and the ancient labyrinths of Rocky Valley.

As a band of nine pilgrims, we shall search for Cornwall’s sacred feminine in the land and waters, on a journey that includes folksongs, herblore, local food, ancient tales, and wild-swimming. Together we shall journey slowly and deeply to seek the divine feminine tradition that weaves throughout all life, in the ancient coasts, cliffs, caves, woodlands, and waters of Kernow.

  • Morgan is many things to many people. She was originally a Celtic sea goddess, before Norman writers made her a magical enemy of King Arthur.

  • Ultimately, Morgan le Fay likely has her roots in the far older Celtic Goddess of Madron. So our approach to Morgana will not laser-focus on the literary and Arthurian tellings, but will look for the wider spirit of the divine feminine throughout the living landscape, with which we’ll attempt to engage through song, silence, ceremony and offerings.

We’ll also encounter stories of other local holy women, such as Materiana, whose local nicname was Madryn, a Celtic healer who has churches devoted to her at Minster near Boscastle, and at Tintagel.

  • This landscape is rich with Arthurian stories, and many authors posit Tintagel as the birthplace of Morgana. But more than this, there are so many diverse landscapes of magical power and divine femininty here - coves and caves, wells and waterfalls - that this landscape seems to embody a living spirit of Morgana rather than just a historic and literary memory.

  • This pilgrimage is being guided by William Parsons, a man! So both men and women are welcome. I believe that we are all children of the great mother, and the creatrix flows through us all, and through the land and waters on which we all walk. So gender is not a block to encounter on this pilgrimage.

  • Each day is apporx. 8 miles of walking, which is more than most people walk in a day. More than this, the way can be tough, with rocky surfaces and steep inclines. This is not an easy pilgrimage. But we will walk slowly, taking many stops to sink into the landscape. Most reasonably fit people should find it not a problem.

  • Because everyone has different requirements for accommodation, each pilgrim is free to find their own preferred accommodation. There are local hotels, bnbs, and campsites galore.

  • The event costs £195 per ticket, and includes: tickets to the Boscastle Museum of Witchcraft and Magic - tickets to St Nectan’s Glen Waterfalls - and tickets to Tintagel castle. Also, all pilgrims will receive a hazelwood pilgrim staff (essential pilgrim technology).

  • Sadly, dogs cannot join us on this pilgrimage.
